Raiding Rules

Signup

All Valorous raids will be announced on the Raid & DKP tab on our website, posts about requirements for joining up on raids are posted by the raid leaders for the raid dungeons we are currently running. All members are expected to sign up for every raid that is posted, you must be signed up for every raid as either Available, Tentative or Unavailable at least 24 hours before it is due to begin if you are signing as Tentative try to provide a reason and switch to Available or Unavailable by the time the raid starts. These rules allow us to ensure that all raiding members are meeting the minimum attendance requirement and are very helpful to your raid leaders when it comes to making rosters, please show us some courtesy.

Even though members have priority, initiates are encouraged to sign up for raids. Our first priority in building a raid is group balance. Secondly, who needs loot from particular bosses, Thirdly, we take members first come, first serve. Fourthly, we take initiates. Signing up for raids is important so that the raid leader knows what kind of balance they will have for their upcoming raid. Raid Signup's are done on this website.

A main spec will always have priority over a player signed up as his off spec in raids, due to possible gear improvements for his main spec that will help the guild further in the game. Players signed up with their off spec will be required to change to their main spec if its necessary for the raid progression, that means if a holy priest(main spec) is signed up as shadow(off spec) and the raid requires 1 more healer, the priest will be playing his main spec in the raid group.

Standby

If you are on standby for any raid encounter you may do as you please while said encounter(s) occur but you must be instantly available when required. We ask that you don't do instance runs outside of full guild runs while on standby because we don't want to put you in the situation of having to leave a group without a member. You may park your character at the instance entrance but must remain immediately reachable via Ventrillo or by in game chat.

If you are expected to join after a particular boss kill, you shall be logged onto your main and be ready to join promptly. Thus not keeping the raid leaders waiting.

When on standby you should be available for the full time you would have raided. You shouldn't keep asking "Is there a slot open?" You should expect that there will be no slots open and pleasantly surprised if there is.

Unfortunately standbys are a must if we are going to progress in endgame. If we had no standbys losing one person could cripple the raid to the point of having to call it. So take your standby duty seriously for what it is, a benefit to the raid. Yes, it may not be fun to not be in raid but it's more fun than never raiding at all.

We work hard to get everyone rotated by class and responsibility but group balance doesn't always let us. Please keep this in mind if you think you are on standby more than others. Being on standby is not something bad. It's positive for the guild, the raids progression and we will work to make sure everyone gets to raid AND being on standby.

We also require that all signers specify what loot they need in order for us to equip everybody in the best possible way. This does of course not apply to new bosses where we want the best possible group setup, but for bosses on farm status this is very much the case.

Talent Build

Players are expected to be specced correctly to enhance maximum output or needs for the guild. Officers may if they feel necessary question a certain spec choosen by an individual.

This allows the Raid Leaders to pick individuals for jobs in instances with the build most suiting to that task, and also if a raid leader sees fit to change someones talent build for a specific boss fight for a player, the guild will pay for it.

Each player will commit to a specific talent build that the officers decides upon. If there are a surplus of people wanting a specific talent build, it's up to the officer discretion to decide who's going to use what build.

Be On-time

  • Be at the summoning stone or ready to be summoned no later than 15 minutes prior to raid start (20:15).
  • Have your equipment and consumables ready, proper spec and so on.

Listening

Follow the instructions of the raid leader. One person deviating from the chosen strategy can wipe the raid and ruin 3 hours worth of effort. Constructive input regarding boss strategy and other raid specifics is encouraged at the appropriate time (i.e. between pulls, not during one). The word of a raid leader is not always gospel, but treat him or her with the respect they deserve.

Dying

Dying is part of any raid run, be prepared to die. Even though it is expensive, using of consumables will prevent dying and it is required for every member to bring a sufficient amount of consumables with them. You are in no position to complain about dying, it is part of the learning process. In order to triumph, expect to die a lot. As a general rule of thumb, measures you can take to prevent dying are a good idea.

Wipes

Occasionally the raid leader might call for a wipe if a pull does not turn out as expected. When you hear the magic word, you are to act accordingly and not start running away from the pulled mobs, die fast, release and run back. We are on a time limit and do not have any time to waste. Slackers expecting a res from one of the 24 other people running back are not welcome.

Die > release > get back > buff up > readycheck "yes".

Releasing

You are not to release unless asked to by the Raid leader or Raid assistant.

AFK or BRB

Leaving your character unattended during the raid run is strictly prohibited. Be responsible and do not put the rest of the raid squad at risk. However we do understand that at some points AFK/BRB will be necessary, if this happens you are to inform the raid assistant or raid leader and wait for his/her confirmation that it's okay to take a break.

The Raid leader will call for all breaks when he sees an opportunity.

Simulated Connection lost & Vanishing

Cowardice is highly undesirable. If we pulled a massive mob, stay and fight it out, unless the raid leader gives different instructions. Do not feign a connection issue. If you wish to do so, do it convincingly. No benefit of a doubt will be given to those who disappear magically at critical moments.

Looting

The raid leader will assign a master looter for the raid before engaging any targets, the master looter will collect all the loot and mail it to the guild bank after the run. For the main bosses, we will be using a Loot Council to assign the loot, additional info at the Loot Council section.

Perhaps most importantly, consider that it takes one person - the master looter - to assign any and all items at any given time. You being stood next to a chest or hovering over a bosses corpse when the rest of the raid group should be moving onto the next boss is entirely useless.
